The Shops at Wailea proudly welcomes California-based women’s fashion lifestyle brand Johnny Was
Johnny Was, announced the brand’s first South Maui store opening on February 7. Located in The Shops’ upper level luxury fashion wing, Johnny Was will debut a 2,000 square foot space featuring their worldly collection of luxurious silk, linen, and cotton fashions, as well as a full swimwear collection embracing a carefree, wanderlust spirit.
“We are excited to expand our presence on Maui and throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Our range of color, print, and style is perfect for island life,” says Rob Trauber, CEO of Johnny Was.
Johnny Was will mark the grand opening on February 7 with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony for store employees before opening to the public at 10am. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy celebratory snacks and refreshments while taking advantage of the special grand opening sale offering 20% off all purchases.
The store’s design will stay true to Johnny Was’ timeless style, artistry, and authenticity while incorporating the spirit of Maui. Artist Sage Vaughn will create his well-known, collage-like floor-to-ceiling floral paintings featuring tropical Hawaiian florals commonly used throughout the islands in ceremonial leis and garlands. A mix of modern and vintage furnishings compliment the artwork, with Italian tile floors, marble tables, oak fixtures, and bronze hardware.
“We can’t imagine a better fit for The Shops at Wailea than Johnny Was,” said Diana Whitt, General Manager/Vice President Property Management for The Festival Companies, the management company of The Shops at Wailea. “Their collections beautifully capture the mood and spirit that our guests seek out, and we are so thrilled to welcome them to The Shops.”
In addition to Johnny Was’ signature women’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections, the space is also home to Johnny Was’ recently added collection of Italian leather handcrafted bags and vibrant homeware. Talia, Johnny Was’ fragrance, will be available in eau de parfum, oil, and candle.
